Here Comes Santa Claus – Free Screensaver For Windows
Review by on
A short while ago I took at look at Don’t Touch My Computer Episode 2, a free and fun screensaver for Windows offered by NCBuy. I have to say I liked that screensaver so much that I thought I would give another one a try. And since it’s December and Christmas is just around the corner, I took at look at the Here Comes Santa Claus screensaver.

Just like Don’t Touch My Computer Episode 2, this screensaver is offered free of charge to Windows users. And just like Don’t Touch My Computer Episode 2, the screensaver features the employee and the dog – you know what I’m talking about if you tried out Don’t Touch My Computer Episode 2.

When your computer goes idle, the Here Comes Santa Claus screensaver kicks in and displays the employee and his dog at home. There’s nothing but snow outside, so the employee is sitting in a chair next to his Christmas tree; the dog is sitting next to him, napping. We see Santa’s sleigh land on the employee’s roof, then Santa dropping down the chimney. Then we see the employee wake up – he dozed off for a second. The milk and cookies on the table next to him have been eaten; underneath the Christmas tree there are a bunch of presents.

The whole thing ends with a “happy holidays” wish – then the screensaver plays the whole thing again.

If you’re thinking about getting the Here Comes Santa Claus, there are some technical details you need to know about:
Download – the download weighs in at 2.1MB, which means the download will complete in no time at all (even if you are on a less than spectacular internet connection).
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Here Comes Santa Claus provides support for Windows 98, 2000, XP, ME and NT.
Limitations – this screensaver is freeware, so there are no limitations. You can use it free of charge for as long as you want.

Pros
  • Lightweight download
  • Amusing animation
  • Freeware

Cons
  • Limited settings to play with (you can only disable the sound)
  • Be careful during the installation process or you will end up with some useless shortcuts on your desktop. The software also invites you to check out some sweepstakes thing during the installation process, so make sure to understand what you’re getting into before you click “Next.”
